In my opinion, both are pricy but hey we have put that much into our nails right? OPI is a slightly more expensive than Essie with much of its polishes at 9 dollars. The price of the nail polish is very important considering that each bottle is almost the cost of a meal. Personally, I love the shade “Ballet Slippers”- a sheer pale pink that is super versatile for nail art designs. Essie is most famous for having great classic and neutral shades. They also have different collections such as Breast Cancer collection, but all of Essie’s collections can easily be found in store and online. Unlike OPI, Essie releases a collection every season separately. They also have specialized collections with various themes such as difference celebrities or movies, but these collections are prominent online and less frequently seen in drugstores. Collectively, OPI has unique shades with bold colors. One comes out in the beginning of fall as a fall/winter collection while the other comes out in spring as the spring/summer collection. OPI usually groups up two seasons and releases about two collections a year. Although this is perfect for those small-nailed people, it might be a little bit more time consuming for those of you who are not. And because Essie’s polish is very thin, it usually takes two coats to have a finished look. However, since the brush is small, it might take people with bigger nails more strokes to finish up one coat. Trust me when I say not you’re your nail but your whole finger might be painted.Įssie’s brush, on the other hand, is much skinnier and shorter which makes it easy to use for all nail sizes. Contrastingly, if you have small nails, OPI might swallow up your nails. If you have regular or bigger sized nails, OPI might be a great brand to go for because it might be easier to apply and take less time. OPI is known to have a very wide brush that can be positive or a negative. Here is a breakdown of how they differ, and which brand I ultimately think is better. However, two of the most popular nail polish brands are OPI and Essie, both available at drugstores and beauty salon stores. With hundreds of brands out there, it can be hard to choose which one is the best. Although nail tools such as dotting tools and brushes are also needed, the main source of the money draining product is of course the nail polish itself. But as my obsession got deeper and deeper, I realized with sadness that nail art costs a lot of money. The Infinite Shine line, as a whole, with a week’s wear being our average timeline, really does outperform a lot of the other lacquers available in the current market. These past few days I have become obsessed with DIY nail art. Many polishes we’ve tested last less than 24 hours, where the good ones may even last about 3-4 days. This is longer than you can get from many nail polishes on the market today. On average, through our many trials, we’ve found you can wear Infinite Shine for about a week before switching out colors. This makes it more difficult to see and fixate on minor tip wear, chips and cracks.ģ - Properly clean, dry, and buff your nails for a manicure, see: How To Prep Your Nails For A Manicure.Ĥ - Diligently follow manicure maintenance best practices: don’t submerge your nails in water for extended periods of time and don’t use your nails as tools.įor more: How To Keep Nail Polish From Chipping and How To Get A Manicure To Last Longer. With lighter nail colors and glitters, they reflect light off and away from the nail bed. 2 - Next, select a lighter nail color, glitter formula or both.
